Assignments
All Auxiliary Officers are assigned to the Patrol Section of the Oshkosh Police Department.
Auxiliary Officers exist to assist, aid and support full time, sworn Officers. Auxiliary Officers receive basic training on a wide range public safety/law enforcement topics. Auxiliary Officers are most often found on-duty providing routine services, such as traffic and crowd control during special events. Providing this level of community service will allow full time, sworn Officer*s to perform other duties, which require their much higher, more complete and detailed level of training. Auxiliary Officers also respond to emergency call-outs and perform other related work throughout the year.
We support the Oshkosh Police Department in a variety of functions such as:
- Parades, Traffic control
- Parades, Color Guard Escort Team
- Music Fests
- Train derailments
- Summer Park events
- CRT call-outs
- Weather related events
- Chemical spills
- Traffic accidents
- Power outages
- University events
- Large fires
- Radar Trailer management
- Menominee Nation Area events
- Pub Crawl
- EAA events
