Subject:      Theft and burglary incidents – subject in custody.

On February 4, 2026, The Oshkosh Police Department arrested a 35-year- old male related to several burglary investigations and a theft incident. He was taken to the Winnebago County Jail for charges of Misdemeanor Bail Jumping, two counts of felony Retail Theft, two counts of burglary and a detainer from WI Department of Corrections Probation and Parole.

On February 3, 2026, Officers responded to the 2300 block of Westowne Avenue for a retail theft incident. Around 9:50 AM, the suspect concealed property and left the business without paying.

On February 3, 2026, Officers responded to the 700 block of Nicolet Avenue for a burglary investigation. Officers determined a masked suspect broke into the business around 10:19 PM, using a crowbar and attempted to break into the ATM.

On February 3, 2026, around 11:53 PM, Officers responded to the 2300 block of Westowne Avenue. Surveillance footage and scene evidence indicated the suspect from the earlier retail theft incident forced entry into the business using a crowbar.

On February 4, 2026, Oshkosh Police Department Criminal Investigation Division tasked detectives to locate the vehicle and suspect responsible for these incidents. It was determined that the suspect was wearing the same clothing in all of these incidents and driving a silver Pontiac vehicle. Upon reviewing video surveillance from the two Oshkosh businesses and using other investigative technology, Officers successfully identified the suspect vehicle’s license plate.

Further use of this investigative technology resulted in identifying that the suspect vehicle was in the Town of Grand Chute. Detectives contacted the Grand Chute Police Department, who were quick to start looking for this vehicle. The vehicle and suspect were located in a business parking lot in the 3000 block of W. Wisconsin Avenue around 11:41 AM. Grand Chute Police Officers placed the male under arrest, and he was eventually transported back to the Oshkosh Police Department for an interview with detectives.

The suspect vehicle contained numerous items of property determined to be stolen.

The Oshkosh Police Department would like to thank the Grand Chute Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.

We also commend the local businesses that promptly and willingly provided surveillance footage to officers and investigators. This cooperation was pivotal, providing crucial evidence that significantly advanced our investigation. Together, this highlights the strength and unity of our community, reinforcing our collective commitment to safety and justice.
