Subject:      UPDATE Welfare Check

 

UPDATE: The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office’s Dive Rescue Team remained on scene and continued searching the Fox River for this individual. The Department of Natural Resources also responded to the area and, utilizing its specialized sonar equipment, was able to locate the individual. Based on the investigation, no foul play is suspected. We want to thank the Oshkosh Fire Department’s Dive Rescue Team, the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office’s Dive Rescue Team, and the Department of Natural Resources for their assistance. Our thoughts are with this individual, family, friends, and all who are impacted by this incident.

 

Earlier today, at approximately 10:03 AM, Officers were notified that a witness reported seeing an individual jump from the Main Street Bridge into the Fox River. Officers immediately responded to that location and began searching the area for the individual.

 

The person was described as a white male with long hair, wearing what appeared to be blue jeans and a dark-colored sweatshirt.

 

Members of the Oshkosh Police Department’s Drone Team utilized a drone to assist in the search efforts. The Oshkosh Fire Department’s Dive Rescue Team and the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office’s Dive Rescue Team also responded to the scene to search the Fox River.

 

At this time, the individual has not been located, and his identity is unknown.

 

Our thoughts are with this individual and all who are impacted by this incident. We are working diligently to try to locate and identify this male.
