Subject: Weapon Incident at Oshkosh North High School

On 09/23/2026, at approximately 9:20 AM, school staff notified the School Resource Officer at Oshkosh North High School that a student there may be in possession of a weapon. Oshkosh North High School’s School Resource Officer located the 16-year-old student in a classroom, and during the course of the investigation, a handgun was located in possession of the student. No one was injured during this incident at school.

There was a report that another Oshkosh North High School student was involved in a previous incident related to this as well.  Officers searched the school and evacuated the school but didn’t locate this 17-year-old male student at Oshkosh North High School. Officers continue to look for this student at off-school locations to question him about the incident. School buses transported North High School students to Oshkosh West High School for reunification with their parents.

The safety of our students, staff, and community remains our highest priority. This is an excellent example of a student and their parent choosing to speak up. We continue to encourage students to report safety concerns. When they see something and say something, they give school staff and Officers the opportunity to act quickly and help prevent potentially tragic outcomes.
