Community Impact Team
Behavioral Health Officer
The Behavioral Health Officer is the primary contact for mental health systems/providers,
governmental and private, wishing to address system or individual mental health-related
concerns. The Behavioral Health Officer works directly with other Oshkosh Police staff to make our services as efficient and effective as possible for our work with mental health consumers and their systems of support. The Behavioral Health Officer will intervene in a crisis as early as possible to increase the utilization of voluntary mental health services, decrease emergency
detentions, divert individuals away from the criminal justice system and connect them and their families with the resources in the area to keep them safe, healthy, and self-sufficient.
Partnering with Winnebago County Human Services, Co-Responder Kayla Rodriguez responds to calls for service to provide assessments and brief counseling to citizens experiencing a
mental health emergency to determine the best intervention/treatment options.
It is our goal that this highly trained team can assist people who are struggling in a more effective and efficient way.
