Qualifications
The Oshkosh Police Department strives to hire the best Police Officers to serve our community. If you are interested in being a part of a progressive Law Enforcement Community, you will first need to meet the following application qualifications:

A United States citizen

At least 20 years of age

No felony or domestic abuse convictions

Possess a valid Wisconsin driver's license at the time of employment

Possess any of the following educational requirements:

A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university

An Associate’s Degree from an accredited technical college
-
A minimum of 60 credits from an accredited college or university
-
Candidates must have the physical ability to perform the essential functions of a police officer; be able to use all standard police equipment, techniques, and use of force options; and have good verbal and written communication skills
Automatic Disqualifiers
- Convicted of a felony
- Convicted of a domestic abuse offense
- Previously committed to a mental health institution
- Unlawfully in the United States
- Dishonorably discharged from the U.S. Military
- A fugitive from justice
- Addicted to a controlled substance
- Subject to a court order prohibiting possession of a firearm
