Crime Prevention - Security Survey
Home Security Survey
The Oshkosh Police Department Crime Prevention Unit provides a free Home Security Survey to residents within the City of Oshkosh. This survey focuses on the vulnerability of the home to burglary, theft, damage to property, etc. Although this program is designed to identify the deficiency in your home's security, it should not be misconstrued that your home would become completely burglar proof.
The security survey entails checking your homes doors, windows, locks, lighting, landscaping, fencing, alarm systems, and if you have a neighborhood watch. The security survey may take about 1 to 2 hours, but it is well worth the time to have the survey done and potentially stop a crime from occurring.
If you do not have the time to spend with a crime prevention officer, there is a booklet available at the Oshkosh Police Department that you may use to conduct your own home security survey. The book has many useful ideas to safeguard your home. If you have questions about the survey or after you take the survey, please contact Officer Kate Mann at 920-236-5742.
